A Union of Hearts:
A love that changed history
The screenplay writer Mark John Christopher Smith, grandson of Isabel and Percy Smith said,
‘I am not sure that my grandmother would agree with me writing this story.’
‘Her own humility would probably not allow it.’
‘She would have told me, Mark, it is easier to change the world when taking the credit doesn’t matter to you.’
This story is about Percy’s life with Isabel Almond. It is a story about the endurance of memory, love and faith.
At its heart this is a love story, and here is a poem Percy wrote when courting Isabel,
‘God sent you to me,’
‘Could I doubt that he will bless you in your coming in, and going out?’
‘And we can trust our God above’
‘You for me – and I for you.’
